Cassell's French Dictionary goes back to the 1880's but major revisions were made in 1905, 1910, 1920 and 1951 to keep it up to date. The 1920 edition was basically the work of Dr. E.A. Baker, who did a great deal to take the dust off the old dictionary and modernize it. The present reviser is deeply indebted to him and has benefited greatly from the results of his labours. (Jml)
